MAKEUP TIPS FOR WOMEN @Natasha

Following these simple ground rules will ensure that you are always putting your best face forward:

Keep It Simple

In a professional office environment, less is more. It's okay to be a little trendy and reflect who you are, but don't overdo it by cramming five trends onto one face. Stick with one or two neutral eye colors, a lipstick that resembles your natural lip color with a little more kick, a coat of mascara and a sweep of blush across the cheeks. Use foundation and concealer as needed.

Work the Entire Face

Many women feel comfortable making up just their eyes or just their lips, leaving the other areas neglected. Wear something soft on each feature – eyes, lips, and cheeks – for a complete, well-rounded appearance.

Seen and Not Heard

Office makeup doesn't have to be boring, but it should never be brash. Avoid loud colors which look even more harsh under office fluorescents. Opt for neutrals, like browns and grays, or soft plums instead. The office is not the place to try out bold new looks or runway trends.

Blend, and Then Blend Some More

Avoid harsh lines by blending. Soften eyeliner with an angle brush or cotton swab, and blend blush to avoid “stripes” on each cheek. Lip liner should be neutral and define the lips, but the line should be smudged so as not to appear thick and noticeable. Make sure you choose a foundation makeup that is right for you, and blend thoroughly along the jawline and hairline.

Leave the Shimmer At Home

Shimmer and sparkle are great for evening looks, but under the office fluorescents, they can easily look cheap and unrefined. Keep use to a bare minimum here, and save the sparkle for evenings out.
Lastly, if you question whether or not your makeup is too much for the office, it probably is. Tone down excessive blush with a pressed or loose powder, and blot dark lips with a tissue and add a light gloss. As always, the goal with an everyday makeup application is to polish your appearance and complete your overall look. Let your performance make the impression, not your makeup.

Make-up in a Jiffy

- Apply compact powder on your face and blend it carefully. It will take only few seconds. Surely, you won’t be having eye-shadow in your handbag, but kohl pencil is there. Make a neat line over the upper eyelid and smudge it a little to soften it and give it a smoky eye effect. Then apply mascara, which will open up your eyes.
- After this comes the turn of blusher. You should apply light shade of blush on your cheeks, forehead and chin. If you do not have it with you, take out your lipstick and put a dot on apple of your cheeks and merge it completely with your skin tone but carefully in the direction of your hairline along the cheekbone.
- For lipstick, lip liner is a good tool to keep lipstick in place but if you do not have it, apply lipstick once and then press tissue between your lips and the reapply it. It will last longer this way and you won’t leave any mark on the glass too.

FORMAL HAIRSTYLES FOR WOMEN @Natasha

Office is a formal place, so office ladies should carry formal hairstyle at workplaces. Such as
  1. Pretty simple ponytail
  2. Side braid
  3. Braided ponytail
  4. High ponytail
  5. Loose curls
  6. Pin one side back
  7. Long and sleek
  8. Short and stylish
  9. Short bob cut
  10. Simple bun
  11. Chestnut bun
Below mentioned details should be taken care of well:

  • Your hair should be free of scurf.
  • It should be neat and tidy as messy and untidy hairstyles show lack of effectiveness and consciousness.
  • Hair accessories should be usual and suitable for formal occasions.

INQUIRY INTO THE COMPLAINT OF AGGRIEVED WOMEN AGAINST SEXUAL HAASSMENT
UNDER SEXUAL HARASSMENT OF WOMEN AT WORKPLACE (PREVENTION,
PROHIBITION & REDRESSAL) ACT 2013.

Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to follow ‘Principles of Natural Justice’ while
conducting the Inquiry.

Section 11 of the above act provides for the Inquiry into the complaint of aggrieved
woman (Complainant) against Sexual Harassment at Workplace.

The Rules appended to the above act in Rule – 7 provide for the “Manner of Inquiry
into Complaint”. Amongst other provisions of this Rule, at Rule 7(4), the Complaints
Committee is directed to conduct the inquiry into the complaint in accordance with
the “Principles of Natural Justice”.

The Principles of Natural Justice, however, have not been defined in the Act of the
appended Rules, the same therefore are described below,

1. Audi alteram partem – Hear the other side/party or an opportunity for fair hearing
must be given before passing any order.
2. Nemo judex in causa sua – one cannot be a judge in his own cause also known as
the rule against bias.
The first principal says that a reasonable and fair opportunity MUST be given to the
respondent to present his defence before the passing any order.

The right of the respondent to cross examine the complainant and her witnesses is
also part of reasonable and fair opportunity besides the accused person’s own
statement, statement of his witnesses and other material viz. Audio, visual, print
or written.

If in an inquiry, the findings are given by the ICC without giving the opportunity of
cross examination to the respondent, such findings shall be deemed to be violating
the Principals of natural Justice and be therefore bad in Law.

The above was held by the Division Bench of Delhi High Court in LPA no. 305 of
2017, in Ashok Kumar Singh Vs- Delhi University

The appellant/respondent raised the issue before the Division Bench of Delhi High
Court that  ICC gave the findings in the Inquiry without giving him the opportunity
to cross examine the witnesses of the complainant rendering the findings to be
violative of Principals of Natural Justice.

The Court, After hearing the learned counsel for the parties gave the opinion that
the respondent/appellant was entitled to a hearing and to cross-examine the
witnesses produced by the Complainant before the ICC and directed ICC to conduct
again a time bound Inquiry.
The Court however, prescribed the following procedure for cross examination,

"Primarily, in a sexual harassment complaint, the committee (ICC) has to verify and
analyse the capability of the aggrieved to depose before them fearlessly without any
intimidation. If the Committee is of the view that the aggrieved is feeble and cannot
withstand any cross examination, the Committee can adopt such other measures to
ensure that the witnesses’ statement is contradicted or corrected by the delinquent
in other manner. The fair opportunity, therefore, has to be understood in the context
of atmosphere of free expression of grievance. If the Committee is of the view that
the witness or complainant can freely depose without any fear, certainly, the
delinquent can be permitted to have verbal cross examination of such witnesses.
In cases, where the Committee is of the view that the complainant is not in a position
to express freely, the Committee can adopt such other method permitting the
delinquent to contradict and correct  by providing statements of witnesses to the
delinquent and soliciting his objections to such statements."

In this case, the identity of the witnesses need not be revealed to the respondent/
appellant  and for this purpose the respondent/appellant would be entitled to submit
the questionnaire to ICC which will be put to the witnesses for their answers in writing
and the statements made by the witnesses without their names will be supplied to the
respondent/appellant. This will ensure the anonymity of the witnesses as well as
adherence to the “Principles of Natural Justice”.

Corporate Attire tips for Men

Most organizations expect their employees to dress well. One needs to dress appropriately as per the work culture for a pleasing personality. It is not necessary that you have to wear your business suits daily to work. A crisp white shirt teamed with a black well fit trouser can give you that desired professional look. Never wear casuals to work. Dressing formally helps to create the right professional image.

Tips to dress correctly at work.
Neutral colors such as blue, grey, white, khaki, black are guaranteed hits in a corporate setting. Avoid wearing party shirts to work. Do not wear loud colors or patterns that are too bold. Subtle colors look good in offices. Plain shirts are always in style but you can also go for shirts in stripes, checks or micro-checks. Colors such as red, yellow, orange usually are not preferred to be worn at the workplace.
Polka dots shirts or shirts with sequins are a strict no-no in organizations. Avoid wearing short sleeves to work. Full sleeves shirts look professional. Make sure your sleeves touch the base of your hand. Do not roll up sleeves at work. Take care of the fit of the trouser. Slim fit or flat front trousers in solid colors such as grey, black, blue look best at workplaces. Avoid baggy trousers as one looks lazy and sloppy in the same. Your shirt should not be too tight. You should be able to button your shirt properly without any gaps. Clothing should be clean, wrinkle free and ironed.
Shoes should be polished. Prefer dark leather shoes (Black or Brown). Wear dark colored socks to work. Do not wear sports shoes or sneakers to work.
Avoid wearing chunky necklaces or too many bracelets to work. Remove all other rings except your wedding ring. If you wear an earring, remove it immediately. Tattoos and body piercings are not at all acceptable in a professional environment.
If you have a moustache, make sure it is neatly trimmed. Do not attend office with beard unless and until there is an emergency.
Remember, your tie should complement your overall look. Silk ties are always a safe bet. Do not wear ties in loud colors or jazzy patterns. The tip of your tie should touch your belt buckles.
Hair should be neatly combed for a professional look. Short hair looks best in offices.
Avoid wearing strong cologne or perfume. You don’t need to tell others that you have arrived at work.
Avoid chewing gums at work. It looks completely unprofessional.
Do not wear flashy belts with broad buckles. Wear leather belts in dark colors preferably black or brown.
Do not carry a thick wallet or keep your car keys in pocket as it creates an asymmetrical bulge under your clothes.

MAKE-UP TIPS FOR MEN

Every day men are taking more pride and putting more time in their appearance. Not only are they looking more fashionable, taking better care of their skin, and tweezing their eyebrows. They are also applying make-up to even out skin tone and cover skin imperfections.

There are some essential steps needed for a man for proper makeup: -
1)    Exfoliate the skin. This is something that can be done in the shower or when first waking up. It will remove the dead skin cells and will help maintain healthy skin. Try to get as close of a shave as possible.
2)    Next spray on a toner. Using a toner will help minimize pores and keep oil at bay during the day. A toner also feels very refreshing on the skin.
3)    Then apply a moisturizer. The type of moisturizer depends on if the skin is dry or oily. If the skin is dry, look for a moisturizer that will lock in the skins natural moisture. For oily skin, use more of an oil control lotion rather than a moisturizer.
4)    For skin imperfections such as acne, scars, and dark circles, use a concealer that matches the skin tone or is just a little bit lighter. Using a small concealer brush, apply the concealer in circular motions directly to the spot. Blend into the skin with a light tap of the finger.
5)    If using a foundation as well as a concealer, go ahead and apply directly to the skin. Use a thin layer and blend with fingertips or a cosmetic sponge. Be careful around the hairline, eyebrows, and beard area. Make sure the foundation is the exact same tone and color of the skin. Also check on the type of foundation to make sure it is for the correct skin type.
6)    It may be necessary to set the makeup with a loose powder. Use lightly otherwise it will be obvious that makeup has been applied.
7)    Do not touch the face throughout the day. Not only will this keep the makeup on, but it will also help keep oil and dirt at bay.
8)    Use lip balm to look natural, wear a clear balm for a bit of kissable shine and protection from weather.
9)    While shaving, look closely in the mirror at your nostrils, clip any small hair hanging out of your nostrils.
10) Get your teeth cleaned and polished once every six to nine months by a good Dentist.
11) Your hairstyle should be based on your face shape, so identify your face shape, whether it’s round, oval, square or triangular and choose a hairstyle.

CORPORATE DRESSING FOR WOMEN
It is often observed that female professionals do not bother much about the clothes they wear to work. Never overlook your professional attire. Remember clothes help you create the desired “first impression”.

Let us go through some corporate dressing tips for women.

Be careful about the fit of your dress. It is not necessary that a dress which looks good on your colleague will also look good on you. Dress according to your physique, body size, body type, weight, complexion and so on. A dress needs to fit you well. Avoid wearing something which is too tight or too loose. Wearing clothes that fit you well makes you feel confident at the workplace. Do not wear body hugging clothes to work.
It is always wise to dress according to your office culture. Business suits look best in colours like Blue, Black or Charcoal grey. Business suits constitute a crisp shirt teamed with a matching trouser or skirt. Shirt should be preferably in light shade and properly tucked into the trouser. Skirts should touch the knee or below. Be very careful about the overall fit of the trouser. Baggy trousers will make you look lazy and sloppy.
Avoid wearing loud colours to work. Colours such as hot pinks, reds, deep purples look odd at the workplace. They are meant to be worn at parties and get togethers with friends. Animal prints and jazzy designs are not meant for offices.
See through dresses, spaghetti tops, minis, blouses with a deep neckline are a strict no no at the workplace. Such dresses attract people for all the wrong reasons. Remember office is not a place where you can wear your sneakers, jeans, hats, shorts and so on.
Female executives should avoid wearing heavy jewellery to work. Stud earrings look simple yet elegant on female professionals. Do not wear chunky necklaces, large earrings and stacks of bangles at workplace. Flaunting your gold jewellery at office is foolish. Do not wear ring on every finger. Avoid wearing multiple bracelets. An elegant and simple watch looks best on professionals.
Do not wear loud make up to work. A nude look works best in offices. Don’t overdo your make up. Instead of a bright lipstick, a lip-gloss looks better and you can even reapply the same whenever needed. Minimal make up can not only make you look good but also extremely professional. Never apply layers of foundation on your face. Avoid cakey make up at workplace.
It is important to smell good at the workplace. Keep a mild perfume handy.
Your handbag must go with your outfit and complement your overall look.
Make sure your hands are clean and nails properly trimmed and manicured. Avoid applying bright and gaudy nail paints.
Body piercings (eyebrow piercings or lip piercings) and tattoos of any kind should be strictly avoided in organizations. Do not wear more than one earring at the workplace.
Hair should be neatly combed and properly tied. Messy hair is not at all acceptable at workplaces. Do not adopt weird hairstyles at work.
Wear flats or platform heels to work. Your heels should not be more than 2 inches.

Effective Date of Constitution of
Complaints Committee in
Establishments to address
complaints of Sexual
Harassment of Women at
Workplace

Empowering Women by Knowledge Sharing

In this series we attempt to sensitize working women and organizations with various provisions of POSH laws.

Effective Date of Constitution of Internal Complaints Committee in the Workplace by the Employer under POSH Laws,

The Supreme Court passed the judgement on 13.08.1997 in Vishakha vs- State of Rajasthan & Others made it mandatory for employers at all workplaces to constitute a Complaints Committee to address complaints of Sexual Harassment of Women.

Any workplace not having constituted a Complaints Committee immediately after the date of above verdict i.e. 13.08.1997, shall be guilty of violation of POSH Law.
Section 4 (1&2) of “The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition & Redressal) Act, 2013 promulgated with effect from 09th December 2013, mandates that every employer of a workplace, shall constitute the Internal Complaints Committee to address the complaints of Sexual harassment of women at workplace.
Under Section 26 (1)(a) the above act provides that failure to constitute a
Complaints Committee shall make the employer punishable with fine extending up
to Fifty Thousand Rupees.
In spite of the above punishment clause coming into force with effect from 09th December
2013, several organisations even till date, lackadaisically not constituted Complaints
Committee making them defaulters in Law and liable for prosecution and punishment.
However, the above provision in the Act only reemphasised more elaborately the
Employer’s duty to constitute a Complaints Committee to address complaints of
sexual harassment of women at workplace which was mandated by the Supreme
Court of India in the judgement delivered on 13th August 1997 in the  case of
Vishakha – Vs- State of Rajasthan & Others (1997).
The verdict of the Supreme Court in the above case, having the power of the Law under
Article 141 of the Indian Constitution laid down the following regarding
constitution of Complaints Committee amongst others,
Duty of the Employer in work places:

Complaint Mechanism:
Whether or not such conduct constitutes an offence under law or a breach of the service rules,
an appropriate complaint mechanism should be created in the employer's organization for redress
of the complaint made by the victim. Such complaint mechanism should ensure time
bound treatment of complaints.
Complaints Committee:
The complaint mechanism, referred  above, should be adequate to provide, where necessary, a Complaints Committee, a special counsellor or other support service, including the maintenance of confidentiality.
In effect, the consequence of the above verdict would be that any workplace not having constituted the Complaints Committee immediately after the date of Judgement, i.e. 13th August 1997, would have violated the Law and be liable for prosecution and punishment.

The above position has been clarified and upheld by The High Court of Mumbai in a judgement dated 13th October 2017 in Writ Petition no. 1348/ 2001, Renuka Mukherjee vs- Vodafone Essar & Others.
In this matter, the petitioner Renuka Mukherjee filed a complaint with the Respondent Company, Vodafone Essar on 04th August 2000 alleging sexual harassment  by her Senior.
The company on 04th August 2000 did not have a Complaints Committee in place, they however later on, hurriedly constituted a shoddy three member committee even this committee did not address the complaint competently and as per the Supreme Court’s instructions given in the judgement of  Vishakha’s case.
The petitioner filed a writ before The Mumbai High Court, besides other observations, it took the cue from the Vishakha’s case verdict and punished the Company by imposing a fine of Rs. 50,000/- for the reason that the company  did not constitute the Complaints Committee as and when required under the Law laid down by the Supreme Court in Vishakha’s Case, constituting a committee later on did not absolve the respondent company of their responsibility and therefore rendering it guilty of violation of the law.
